THOMPSON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – In a dramatic turn of events, the armed standoff situation that unfolded Thursday morning in Thompson, North Dakota, has reached a conclusion. Grand Forks County Sheriff, Andy Schneider, provided an update on the situation, which involved a suicidal male armed with a gun at a residence in the 500 block of 15th Street Northeast, west of Thompson.

Deputies responded to the scene where they attempted to establish a perimeter around the farmyard. The situation escalated when the male suspect fired a single shot with a high-caliber rifle. Following the discharge, law enforcement swiftly mobilized, with the regional SWAT team, negotiation teams, and K9 apprehension units being called in for assistance.

After intense negotiations, the occupants of the residence were instructed to exit the premises. A female exited first, followed shortly by the male suspect, later identified as Kyle Spicer, 35. Spicer was taken into custody without further incident.

Upon investigation, deputies determined probable cause to arrest Spicer on charges including terrorizing, interference with a 911 call, simple assault, and felon in possession of a firearm. The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol, Grand Forks Regional SWAT team, and Altru Hospital all played crucial roles in resolving the standoff.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events that led to the standoff.
