Bemidji Crash Injures Two on Highway 71
Bemidji, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Two people were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 71.
The collision happened around 10:25 a.m. near Fern Street Northwest in Bemidji.
The Minnesota State Patrol classified the crash as an injury incident.
The road was wet when the vehicles collided.
Jeep and Minivan Collide
Mark Daniel Haugen, 46, of Bemidji, was driving a 2001 Jeep Wrangler north on Highway 71.
Tiffany Paige Haukaas, 32, of Redby, was driving a 2008 Chrysler minivan south on Highway 71.
The State Patrol said Haukaas was turning east onto Fern Street Northwest.
The Jeep and minivan then collided near the intersection.
Haugen suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.
He was taken to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji for treatment.
Haukaas was not reported injured in the crash.
Passenger Taken to Hospital
Alan David Matrious, 42, of Minneapolis, was riding in the Chrysler minivan.
Matrious also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji for treatment.
The State Patrol said all three people were wearing seat belts.
Neither vehicle had an airbag deployment listed in the crash report.
Alcohol was not suspected for either driver.
Emergency Crews Respond
Bemidji police, firefighters and ambulance crews assisted at the crash scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol handled the crash investigation.
The report was listed as complete when updated Tuesday afternoon.
The crash carries State Patrol incident number 26321441.
