Todd Township Crash Injures Bemidji Couple

Todd Township (trfnews.i234.me) — Two Bemidji residents were injured after a vehicle left Highway 71 in Hubbard County.

The crash happened at 1:36 p.m. on September 14, 2026. It occurred near 190th Street in Todd Township.

The Minnesota State Patrol said a 2016 Hyundai Genesis was traveling south on Highway 71. The road was wet at the time.

The Hyundai approached 190th Street and tried to pass another vehicle. The car then began to hydroplane on the wet roadway.

The Hyundai left the road and entered the right ditch. It struck a cable connected to a transformer.

The vehicle continued along the cable and then hit the transformer. The impact sent the Hyundai into the air.

After landing, the Hyundai struck two parked vehicles. Those vehicles were a 2014 Ford Edge and a 2014 Ford F-150.

Both parked vehicles were unoccupied, according to the State Patrol. The Hyundai then rolled onto its roof before stopping.

Driver And Passenger Injured

David Alan Perkins, 62, of Bemidji, was driving the Hyundai. He suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Perkins was taken to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids for treatment. He was wearing a seat belt.

Judy Lynn Perkins, 62, also of Bemidji, was a passenger. She also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash report did not list a health care facility for Judy Perkins. She was also wearing a seat belt.

The State Patrol said alcohol was not suspected for either occupant. Airbags deployed in the Hyundai.

No injuries were reported in the two parked vehicles because they were empty. The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

The incident involved three vehicles in total. The State Patrol listed the road condition as wet.

The crash remained listed as an injury incident. Information in the report was marked complete Monday afternoon.
