Pelican Rapids Woman Killed in Highway 59 Crash
Otter Tail County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Pelican Rapids woman died Sunday after two cars collided on Highway 59.
Basro Hassan Abokar, 51, of Pelican Rapids suffered fatal injuries in the September 6 crash.
Jacob Lee Thatcher, 25, of Fergus Falls suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. near milepost 235 in Erhards Grove Township.
Vehicles Collide on Highway 59
The Minnesota State Patrol said Thatcher was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Passat south on Highway 59.
Abokar was driving a 2004 Buick Regal north on the highway.
The two vehicles collided, according to the State Patrol.
The public report did not provide further details about how the collision occurred.
Road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.
Abokar was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The Buick’s airbag did not deploy.

Thatcher was transported to the Fergus Falls emergency room after the collision.

The report listed alcohol as suspected for Thatcher.
