Thief River Falls Man Gets 75 Months in Drug Case
THIEF RIVER FALLS (trfnews.i234.me) — A local man received a 75-month prison sentence on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The sentence followed a felony cocaine sale conviction in Pennington County District Court.
A Pennington County jury convicted 23-year-old Tristian Allen Comstock on May 28.
The jury found him guilty of second-degree controlled substance sale.
It also found him guilty of third-degree cocaine possession.
However, the court did not enter an adjudication on the possession charge.
Jurors heard testimony for two days before receiving the case.
They deliberated for slightly more than one hour before reaching their verdict.
Court Orders 75-Month Prison Term
Comstock received 75 months in prison for the cocaine sale conviction.
The sentence will run concurrently with a prison term from another case.
He received credit for 410 days already served.
The court barred Comstock from possessing firearms, ammunition, or explosives for life.
He must also provide a DNA sample.
Comstock was ordered to pay $210 in fines and court fees.

Case Began With 2025 Traffic Stop
The charges followed a traffic stop on May 16, 2025, according to the criminal complaint.
Investigators stopped Comstock’s vehicle during surveillance by the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force.
Authorities also had probable cause to arrest a woman riding inside the vehicle.
A probation agent was present during the traffic stop.
An investigator removed two knives before Comstock met with the probation agent.
Authorities then searched Comstock’s Pleasant Avenue home under his probation terms.
Inside a safe, the agent found a cigarette box holding five plastic bags.
Field testing showed the substance was cocaine, according to the complaint.
The cocaine weighed about 16.9 grams with packaging on an uncertified scale.
Drug paraphernalia was also found inside the safe.
Complaint Details Comstock’s Admission
Comstock admitted that the cocaine belonged to him.
He said he had possessed the cocaine for about three weeks.
Comstock also said each bag weighed about 3.5 grams.
The complaint states that he exchanged cocaine for sexual services.
The substance was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for laboratory analysis.
Prior Convictions Listed
The complaint also listed several prior convictions from 2023.
They included a felony domestic abuse no-contact order violation.
The list included fifth-degree drug possession and fourth-degree impaired driving.
Two felony domestic assault by strangulation convictions were also listed.
