Mahnomen: Gordon Faces Felony Cocaine Charge
MAHNOMEN, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — John Alan Gordon faces a felony drug charge after an early-morning arrest at Shooting Star Casino.
Gordon, 36, is charged in Mahnomen County District Court file 44-CR-26-502.
The case also includes a misdemeanor trespass charge.
The alleged incident happened Aug. 31, 2026.
Casino Security Asked Gordon to Leave
The complaint says law enforcement responded to Shooting Star Casino around 2:38 a.m.
Casino security reported that Gordon would not leave the property.
Police found Gordon sitting near the hotel entrance without shoes, according to prosecutors.
Investigators reported slurred speech and an odor of alcohol.
Security wanted Gordon to return to a hotel room or leave the property.
The complaint says family members were given about 15 minutes to help him leave.
Gordon allegedly remained seated and said he had done nothing wrong.
Police arrested him for trespassing around 2:53 a.m.
No police officer names are included in this report.
Suspected Cocaine Found During Search
Police searched Gordon after the arrest, according to the complaint.
Investigators allegedly found a clear baggie containing white powder in his front pocket.
A field test produced a presumptive positive result for cocaine, prosecutors allege.

The complaint says the baggie and its contents later weighed 10.650 grams.
That reported weight forms the basis for the felony drug charge.
Third-Degree Drug Charge Filed
Count One charges Gordon with third-degree controlled substance possession.
The charge cites Minnesota Statute 152.023, subdivision 2(a)(1).
The law covers possession of at least 10 grams of certain narcotic-drug mixtures.
The complaint alleges the substance involved was cocaine.
A conviction can carry up to 20 years in prison.
A fine of up to $250,000 is also possible.
Those are maximum penalties and do not represent a sentence against Gordon.
Trespass Charge Also Filed
Count Two alleges Gordon refused to leave another person’s premises after being told to depart.
The charge cites Minnesota Statute 609.605.
The complaint classifies the offense as a misdemeanor.
It lists a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Charges Remain Allegations
The criminal complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.
Gordon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
