What Investigators Say Happened

The complaint says the vehicle later turned into a driveway near Richwood. The driver stopped, got out, and ran into nearby woods. The deputy gave commands to stop. A K9 was later used during the search.

Investigators also found a passenger who had left the vehicle. She told officers Bush was driving her toward Detroit Lakes. She said he sped up after seeing headlights behind them.

The complaint says Bush looked for a place to leave the road. The passenger said he then told her to eat drugs during the chase. She later identified the drugs as methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The complaint also says Bush threatened to kill the passenger if she spoke to police. She also told officers she had seen him earlier that day with a .357 handgun.

Arrest and Case Status

Bush was later arrested and taken to the Becker County Jail. Court records say he agreed to speak with investigators. The complaint says Bush admitted he ran from the deputy.

According to the complaint, Bush said he thought the squad car was tied to an earlier altercation. He also said he already had a warrant. He said he kept running because he knew a K9 was nearby.

The case remains pending in Becker County District Court. Public case records can also be searched through Minnesota Court Records Online.

A criminal charge is only an allegation. Bush is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
