Ogema Man Charged After Highway 59 Traffic Stop

OGEMA, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — An Ogema man faces a gross misdemeanor charge following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 59.

Paul William Beaupre, 39, has been charged with driving after license cancellation. His license was listed as canceled as inimical to public safety.

The charge was filed in Becker County District Court. The case is listed under court file number 03-CR-26-1421.

The allegations have not been proven in court. Beaupre is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Truck Allegedly Passed Vehicles on Shoulder

The incident happened at about 7:50 a.m. on July 16, 2026.

A Becker County deputy was patrolling in Ogema when a truck passed two vehicles, according to the complaint.

The vehicles were waiting to turn from U.S. Highway 59. The truck allegedly passed them on the right shoulder.

The complaint states there was no marked bypass lane at that location.

The deputy stopped the truck and spoke with the driver. Beaupre allegedly said he did not have a driver’s license.

License Status Confirmed

A records check showed Beaupre’s driving privileges were canceled, according to the complaint.

The listed status was “canceled—inimical to public safety.”

That status applies when Minnesota officials consider a driver a threat to public safety.

Beaupre was arrested and taken to the Becker County Jail following the traffic stop.

He is charged under Minnesota Statute 171.24, subdivision 5.

The statute classifies the alleged offense as a gross misdemeanor.

A conviction could bring up to 364 days in jail. It could also bring a fine of up to $3,000.
