Sullivan Township (trfnews.i234.me) — We have a bizarre and alarming update out of Polk County.
At 5:00 a.m. Friday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence near Grand Marais Creek, east of East Grand Forks, following a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the homeowner had discovered a nude suspect hiding in the basement.
Before officers arrived on the scene, the suspect fled the residence, sparking an extensive manhunt with help from East Grand Forks Police and the Minnesota State Patrol. Law enforcement established a perimeter and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area.
During the investigation, an unoccupied vehicle believed to be connected to the suspect was found abandoned in a nearby ditch close to the victim’s home. As of now, the suspect has not been located, but the Sheriff’s Office says there is no known threat to public safety at this time.
