Naytahwaush Warrant Arrest Leads to Two Charges
Naytahwaush (trfnews.i234.me) — A Waubun man faces two charges after a felony warrant arrest in Mahnomen County.
Anthony Michael Johnson, 50, is charged in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court. The complaint lists one felony and one misdemeanor.
Johnson is charged with aiding an offender to avoid arrest. He also faces a charge of obstructing the legal process.
The allegations stem from an April 14, 2026, response at a home in Naytahwaush. Officers went there to arrest Madison Lois Johnson on a felony warrant.
Officers Sought Woman on Felony Warrant
The warrant followed Madison Johnson’s missed court hearing on December 1, 2025. She had been charged with aiding and abetting felony theft.
According to the complaint, Anthony Johnson answered the door when officers arrived. He allegedly said only he and Madison Johnson’s daughter were inside.
Officers explained that the home was listed as Madison Johnson’s address. The complaint says Anthony Johnson then shut and locked the door.
An officer watching the home later reported seeing Madison Johnson through a window. The officer also heard a woman discussing the felony warrant.
Complaint Details Entry and Arrest
Officers continued asking Anthony Johnson to open the door. They warned that he could face charges for refusing.
The complaint says Johnson wanted officers to wait for his wife. She arrived and questioned whether officers could enter the home.
A child later opened the door, according to the court filing. Officers entered, found Madison Johnson, and placed her under arrest.
Prosecutors allege Anthony Johnson knowingly helped Madison Johnson avoid arrest. The felony carries a maximum sentence of three years.
The felony also carries a possible $5,000 fine. The misdemeanor charge carries up to 90 days in jail.
That misdemeanor also carries a possible $1,000 fine. A criminal charge is an allegation and does not prove guilt.
Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Case information may be reviewed through Minnesota Court Records Online.
The cited laws are available through the Minnesota Revisor. Readers can review Minnesota Statute 609.495 and Minnesota Statute 609.50.
