Nay Tah Waush Man Charged After Traffic Stop

NAY TAH WAUSH, Minnesota — (trfnews.i234.me) — A Mahnomen man faces a gross misdemeanor traffic charge following an April traffic stop.

Ronald Eugene Bellanger Jr. has been charged with driving after license cancellation. The cancellation was listed as inimical to public safety.

The case was filed in Mahnomen County District Court. Bellanger has been issued a summons in the case.

Traffic Stop in Nay Tah Waush

According to the criminal complaint, the traffic stop happened on April 14, 2026.

A Mahnomen County deputy was patrolling the village of Nay Tah Waush. The deputy reportedly saw a driver without a seat belt.

The deputy activated emergency lights and stopped the vehicle. The driver was later identified as Bellanger.

Dispatch informed the deputy that Bellanger’s driving privileges were canceled, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors allege Bellanger knew, or had reason to know, about the license cancellation.

A cancellation listed as inimical to public safety means officials consider the person’s driving a public risk.

The charge is a gross misdemeanor. A conviction could bring up to 364 days in jail.

The maximum fine is $3,000. A judge could also impose both jail time and a fine.

The complaint states there is probable cause to support the charge. It does not represent a conviction.

Bellanger is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
