Meth Sale Sting: Thief River Falls Man Risks 20 Years for Drug Deal

POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – James Richard Shaugabay, 33, from Thief River Falls, faces significant legal jeopardy with potential imprisonment for up to 20 years following his arrest for a drug transaction involving methamphetamine. Shaugabay was formally charged with a third-degree controlled substance sale after his initial court appearance on Thursday, June 6.

The charges stem from an incident on May 28, where Shaugabay allegedly sold six grams of methamphetamine, including packaging, for $250 to an informant cooperating with police in East Grand Forks. This information was detailed in the probable cause statement associated with his arrest.

Currently, Shaugabay is detained at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center, held on a $60,000 cash or surety bond. His next court appearance, an omnibus hearing, is scheduled for June 27 at 9 a.m.
