Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Mahnomen woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after a reported parking lot crash.
Alicia Marie Avila has been charged in Mahnomen County District Court. The case is listed under court file number 44-CR-26-162.
The charges stem from an alleged incident on September 2, 2025. Court records say the crash happened at Riverland Apartments in Mahnomen County.
Charges Filed In Mahnomen County
Avila is charged with first-degree damage to property. That charge is a felony under Minnesota Statute 609.595.
The complaint says the damage reduced the value of another person’s property by more than $1,000.
If convicted, the charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. It also carries a possible $10,000 fine.
Avila is also charged with a misdemeanor traffic offense. That charge involves an alleged collision with an unattended vehicle.
The charge falls under Minnesota Statute 169.09. It carries up to 90 days in jail or a $1,000 fine.
Complaint Details Alleged Crash
According to the complaint, Trista White reported damage to her vehicle. The rear passenger door had a large dent.
White told law enforcement the damage was not there earlier that day.
Court records say surveillance video later showed a black SUV backing from a parking spot. The SUV allegedly struck White’s vehicle on the passenger side.
The complaint says the driver then pulled back into the parking spot. The driver allegedly did not exit the vehicle.
The vehicle then backed out again and left the parking lot, according to the complaint.
Investigators later identified the driver as Alicia Marie Avila, court records state.
Repair Estimate Tops $4,000
The complaint says the estimated repair cost is $4,006.81.
No conviction has been entered in the case. A criminal complaint is only an allegation.
Avila is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
