Hartland Township Crash Leaves Driver Critically Hurt

Hartland Township (trfnews.i234.me) — Two drivers were injured Tuesday evening after two cars collided at Highway 13 and 280th Street.

The crash happened at about 7:41 p.m. on September 15, 2026, in Freeborn County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2010 Audi A4 was traveling east on 280th Street.

A 2015 Nissan Sentra was traveling south on Highway 13. The vehicles collided at the intersection.

Albert Lea Driver Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

Caleb Lee Sorenson, 32, of Albert Lea, was driving the Nissan Sentra.

Sorenson suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was taken to St. Marys in Rochester for medical treatment.

Stacy Jo Erdner, 35, of Wells, was driving the Audi A4.

Erdner suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening. She was taken to an Albert Lea hospital for treatment.

The collision sent both drivers to hospitals for evaluation and treatment.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles during the crash.

The State Patrol reported that neither driver was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol was not suspected for either driver.

The road was dry when the collision happened. The State Patrol classified the incident as an injury crash.

Emergency crews from the Hartland Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office also assisted. Mayo Ambulance provided medical support.

The Minnesota State Patrol’s Rochester District handled the crash report. The incident carries case number 26103899.

The State Patrol marked the information as complete early September 16.

The agency listed its last update at 5:09 a.m.
