Detroit Lakes (trfnews.i234.me) — A Hawley man is facing gross misdemeanor DWI charges in Becker County District Court.

Logan Theodore Stoa, 31, is charged in Becker County Court File 03-CR-26-888. The case stems from an April 16, 2026, traffic stop in Detroit Lakes.

According to the complaint, Detroit Lakes police were dispatched at about 7:30 p.m. for a driving complaint. The report involved a vehicle traveling in the city.

Police later found the vehicle on the westbound U.S. Highway 10. The complaint says the vehicle was weaving before it was stopped.

Charges Filed In Becker County

Stoa is charged with third-degree driving while impaired. He is also charged with third-degree driving with an alcohol concentration of .08 or more.

Both counts are listed as gross misdemeanors. Each count carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.

The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 169A.20. It also cites Minnesota Statute 169A.26.

Complaint Alleges .236 Alcohol Concentration

The complaint states that Stoa smelled of an alcoholic beverage during the stop. Police said he agreed to field sobriety testing.

Based on his performance, police believed Stoa was impaired. He was then arrested for driving while impaired.

Authorities later obtained a warrant for a blood or urine sample. The complaint says urine testing showed an alcohol concentration of .236.

The complaint alleges the result was measured within two hours of driving. Prosecutors also allege one aggravating factor was present.

Court records say the alleged offense happened in the city of Detroit Lakes. The case is filed in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction. Stoa is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
