Bemidji Man Charged in Alleged Braking Assault
Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man faces a felony assault charge after a woman suffered serious injuries during a vehicle incident.
Trevor Lee Krumrey is charged with third-degree assault causing substantial bodily harm. The case was filed in Beltrami County District Court.
The charge stems from an alleged incident on June 21, 2026. Court documents identify the injured woman by the initials K.C.
Woman Reports Broken Teeth and Head Injury
According to the criminal complaint, deputies spoke with K.C. after the incident. She reported broken teeth, a cut, and a head injury.
Investigators said there was significant blood inside the vehicle. Photographs of the vehicle and K.C.’s injuries were added to the case file.
K.C. later received care at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. She also completed a medical release and a danger assessment form.

Complaint Describes Conflicting Accounts
The complaint says Krumrey gave investigators a different account. He said he suddenly braked after noticing movement inside the vehicle.
Krumrey said K.C. was leaning forward without a seatbelt. He claimed she struck her forehead near the vehicle’s CD player.
He denied that an argument had happened. He also denied causing her injuries on purpose.
K.C. told deputies the braking was intentional, according to the complaint. She said Krumrey noticed she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Officers arrested Krumrey at a Bemidji residence. He was taken to the Beltrami County Jail without incident.
Felony Charge Carries Possible Prison Term
Third-degree assault is a felony under Minnesota Statute 609.223. A conviction can bring up to five years in prison.
The law also allows a fine of up to $10,000. The court case number is 04-CR-26-1431.
