Ponsford Man Faces Felony in Pickup Theft Case

Ponsford (trfnews.i234.me) — Anthony Jerome Clark faces a felony vehicle theft charge in Becker County District Court.

Prosecutors accuse Clark of taking or driving a pickup without the owner’s consent.

The alleged offense happened on July 11, 2026, according to a criminal complaint.

The charge involves a white 1996 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

Clark is charged under Minnesota’s theft law.

The felony carries up to five years in prison.

A conviction could also bring a fine of up to $10,000.

Pickup Reported Missing

Police received a stolen vehicle report in Ponsford on July 16.

The owner said a potential buyer had asked about the pickup several days earlier.

The buyer was known to the owner by the nickname “Bucky,” the complaint states.

The owner allowed the buyer to take the pickup home for an inspection.

The buyer later returned and requested the vehicle title.

The owner provided the title after receiving a promise of payment, according to prosecutors.

The complaint says the buyer never returned with the money.

The owner had purchased the truck about two years earlier.

However, the vehicle title was still registered to the previous owner.

Investigators contacted that person, who confirmed selling the truck to the current owner.

Investigators initially contacted another person while trying to identify the potential buyer.

That person denied involvement but said Clark might have the white pickup.

Investigators later linked the nickname “Bucky” to Anthony Jerome Clark.

The owner then reported the vehicle as stolen.

Authorities entered the Chevrolet into the national stolen vehicle database.

Police located the pickup the following day at a residence in Pinepoint.

The license plate matched the vehicle listed in the theft report.

A resident told authorities that he had purchased the pickup from Clark.

The resident said he paid Clark $400 for the vehicle.

He also told investigators that Clark provided two keys and the vehicle title.

The complaint does not say Clark had permission to sell the truck.

The case is filed in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.

The court file number is 03-CR-26-1498.
