Warren Store Bad Checks Lead to Felony Charge

Warren (trfnews.i234.me) — Damon Roy Anderson faces a felony charge involving three alleged dishonored checks in Marshall County.

Prosecutors say the checks were issued to Jet Stop in Warren.

The three checks totaled $1,037.79, according to a criminal complaint.

Anderson is charged with issuing dishonored checks worth more than $500.

The felony carries up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Three Checks Listed in Complaint

Court records say all three checks were dated October 21, 2025.

The first check was written for $177.79, according to the complaint.

A second check was for $410.

The third check was written for $450.

Together, prosecutors say the checks had a total value of $1,037.79.

The complaint says the checks were drawn from a Discover money market account.

Investigators reported that all three checks were returned for insufficient funds.

The store also reported $105 in returned-check fees.

That brought the claimed total loss to $1,142.79, including those fees.

According to the complaint, Jet Stop sent two certified demands seeking payment.

Both notices were returned as undeliverable, prosecutors allege.

Law enforcement later sent another payment demand on February 16, 2026.

The complaint does not indicate that the checks were paid afterward.

Minnesota law allows several dishonored checks to be combined for charging purposes.

The checks must meet the requirements listed under the state statute.

Checks totaling more than $500 can result in a felony charge.

The law can be reviewed under Minnesota Statute 609.535.

The State of Minnesota filed the case against Damon Roy Anderson in Marshall County District Court.

Anderson is listed as a Chanhassen resident in the complaint.

The case is filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.
