Detroit Lakes (trfnews.i234.me) — Neka Joy Sargent, 33, of Moorhead, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony third-degree burglary.
The charge follows a reported theft at the Detroit Lakes Walmart. According to court records, Walmart gave a theft report to the Detroit Lakes Police Department on Feb. 10.
The report said the incident happened on Feb. 8. Sargent allegedly entered the store and shoplifted three items.
The items had a total listed value of $38.32, according to court records.
Prior Trespass Notice Cited
Court records say Sargent had been previously trespassed from Walmart. That order was tied to other thefts reported in December 2025.
Because of that notice, prosecutors allege Sargent knew she did not have consent to enter the store.
That detail is central to the felony burglary charge. In Minnesota, burglary cases may involve entering a building without consent and committing a crime inside.

The case is now pending in Becker County District Court. Sargent’s first court appearance is scheduled for May 7.
That hearing is set before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony.
Case Remains Pending
No conviction has been entered in the case. A criminal charge is not proof of guilt.
Sargent is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
