White Earth (trfnews.i234.me) — Elias Trinidad Thompson, 22, of rural Ogema, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court.
Thompson was sentenced for being a felon in possession of a gun. A felony receiving stolen property charge was dropped under a plea agreement.
According to court records, the case began on Dec. 27. Law enforcement responded to a report of shots fired.
The call came from the 36000 block of Loon Drive in White Earth. Two people reported hearing five shots.
Shots Fired Report Leads To Search
The investigation led to a search warrant for the home. Court records say officers saw shell casings and a live round at the scene.
Inside the home, officers found a smaller black pistol on a banister. The gun was wrapped in a towel.
The firearm was later identified as an unloaded Springfield XDS-9 9mm handgun.

Dispatch later advised that the firearm had been reported stolen. Court records say Thompson made a brief comment after hearing that information.
Authorities also found a live 9mm round on a kitchen shelf. More ammunition was found inside a backpack in the living room.
Ammunition Found Inside Home
The backpack contained several rounds of ammunition. That included seven rounds of .25 auto ammunition.
It also held eight rounds of .40 caliber ammunition. Four Glock handgun magazines were also found.
One magazine contained 14 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, according to court records.
Authorities also collected seven 9mm casings outside the residence. The firearm was confirmed as stolen during the investigation.
Thompson was arrested and taken to the Becker County Jail.
Prison Sentence Ordered
On March 20, Becker County District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Thompson to 60 months in state prison.
The sentence will be served at St. Cloud. Thompson received credit for 84 days already served in jail.
He was also ordered to pay a $50 fine. Court records list an additional $160 in court fees.
