Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — Authorities say a woman is dead and a man is in custody following a Wednesday morning disturbance at an apartment in Horace, North Dakota, just south of Fargo.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly before 8:00 a.m. to 7994 Jack’s Way in Horace for a report of an unknown disturbance. While en route, dispatchers advised that a female was injured and that a male subject had left the scene looking for medical assistance.
Deputies arrived along with Southern Valley Rescue and a Sanford Ambulance crew. Life-saving measures were performed, but the female victim did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says an individual believed to have been present when the incident occurred has been detained. The area remains an active crime scene as investigators continue to collect evidence and interview witnesses.
A statement from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reads: “The scene is actively being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office. Details will be forwarded to our media partners when a timeline is established.”
Officials also confirmed that a press conference will be held later today to provide additional details about the case. The name of the deceased woman has not yet been released pending family notification.
