Warroad Man Charged With Felony Threats

Roseau County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Warroad man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he made threats during an ongoing vehicle dispute.

Larry James Demuth, 21, of Warroad, is charged in Roseau County District Court with felony threats of violence and making an emergency call without an emergency.

The charges stem from an incident reported on July 1, 2026. Court documents state Demuth was involved in a dispute involving a vehicle with another person.

Vehicle Dispute Leads To Police Call

According to the criminal complaint, Demuth contacted law enforcement about his vehicle being stolen.

Authorities said there had been an ongoing civil dispute over ownership and possession of the vehicle.

Investigators allege Demuth said he planned to take the vehicle back himself.

The complaint states that Demuth made statements threatening violence toward the other party during a phone conversation with police.

Authorities advised Demuth that the vehicle issue needed to be handled through civil court.

911 Call Leads To Additional Charge

The complaint states that Demuth later called 911 about the same dispute.

Investigators allege the recorded emergency call included additional threats against the other party.

Authorities said Demuth knew there was no emergency involving police, fire, medical, or ambulance services.

Because of that, prosecutors charged him with making an emergency call when no emergency existed.

The threat of violence charge is a felony under Minnesota law.

The charge carries a possible maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The emergency call charge is a misdemeanor with a possible sentence of up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Arrest And Court Proceedings

Court records state that officers responded to Demuth’s residence after the reported threats.

Authorities said Demuth resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.

The case remains pending in Roseau County District Court.

All charges are allegations, and Demuth is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
