Warroad Man Charged After Canceled License Stop
Warroad (trfnews.i234.me) — A Williams man is facing a gross misdemeanor charge after a traffic stop in Warroad.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Roseau County District Court, Wayne Richard Olson has been charged with driving after cancellation. The complaint says his driving status was listed as canceled, inimical to public safety.
The charge stems from a March 24, 2026, traffic stop on State Highway 11 in Warroad. Court records say a Minnesota State Patrol trooper saw a Chrysler Aspen traveling westbound.
The complaint says the vehicle had dark window tint on the front driver’s side window. The tint appeared darker than allowed under Minnesota law.
Traffic Stop On State Highway 11
Authorities checked the vehicle’s license plate through a law enforcement database. The complaint says the registered owner was Wayne Richard Olson.
Records showed Olson’s Minnesota driving status was canceled, inimical to public safety. That status is often linked to serious driving history concerns under Minnesota law.
The trooper then stopped the vehicle. The driver and only person inside was identified as Wayne Olson, according to the complaint.
After checking Olson’s status, authorities seized the vehicle’s license plates. The complaint says Olson was also issued a license plate impoundment form.
Gross Misdemeanor Charge Filed
Olson is charged under Minnesota Statute 171.24. The complaint also cites Minnesota Statute 171.04.
The charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor. If convicted, Olson could face up to 364 days in jail. He could also face a fine of up to $3,000.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction. Olson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
