GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) Update on Greater Grand Forks flood situation.
Neil Berg here at uh 1 20 p.m on a sunday with a greater grand forks flood update i’m going down to mervis avenue over the sorely bridge that is still open down to the right of me uh farther south the point bridge closed at 1 p.m and while the sorely bridge between grand forks and heading into east grand forks now is still open the flood wall is going up down here across demers avenue you see the truck there and the uh temporary flood gate being put in in the permanent structure uh traffic being rerouted around it for now so the sorely bridge does remain open at least until they get that part done it’s just a smaller structure here to fill in uh once that piece is done i can also tell you at three o’clock officials on the grand forks side of the river are meeting uh to decide what they’re going to do so we may have a decision on whether or not the sorely bridge would also close down uh which would uh close uh two of the uh city’s three uh bridges uh kennedy bridge would remain open as they anticipate that crest of uh was it 48.5 feet uh later this week some six feet under the historic 1997 crest um we’ve also got a bit of other news here just coming in oh um i’m told we gotta have a bus of uh volunteers from east grand forks going over to crookston to help sandbag and there it goes now i just see the bus uh down here on the left leaving the fire department you can see that coming up to the uh stop light here so we’ve got some uh volunteers from east grand forks headed over to crookston to help sandbag as they’re kind of reaching a critical stage there um we did get a uh message from the police chief here uh late on this sunday morning that they were considering the possibility of evacuating law low-lying areas in crookston no final decision on that yet but the sports center in christian is set up as a place for people to go if that does happen we’ll have more on that later this afternoon and now uh here we are uh down by the sorely bridge again you can see demers avenue closed uh right here but there is a way around it yet it was still remaining open so that that could change will keep you updated in greater grand forks i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me

  1. Thank you! I live in East Grand Forks – North and the roads surrounding my block and as far as I can tell running East-West are flooded, luckily it hasn't gone too far past the curb and hasn't reached the parking lot. Still I don't want to try driving or walking trough that. it's nice to get up-to-date overview of how it is downtown, I was expecting that it would be completely flooded down there.
