  • Driver: Donald Ystaas, 71, of Sheyenne, ND – Injured

  • Charges: Driving under the influence

Narrative:

  • The Lincoln was traveling southbound on Highway 30 when the driver lost control, veering off the roadway.
  • The vehicle collided with the guardrail of the bridge and rotated before coming to rest facing north in the west ditch.
  • Donald Ystaas, the driver, received on-scene treatment from Maddock Ambulance before being transported to SMP Health – St. Aloisius in Harvey for serious injuries.
  • He was later transferred by Sanford AirMed to Sanford in Bismarck for further care.
  • Ystaas was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
