Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — A local man was arrested following a traffic stop in Thief River Falls last week. Police say the driver now faces multiple charges related to impaired and unlawful driving.
According to officials, the incident happened on September 19 at about 3:28 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Sixth Street and Davis Avenue. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Isaac Perez of Thief River Falls.
Police cited Perez for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated, driving after revocation, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was taken into custody following the stop. No injuries or additional incidents were reported.
Fourth-degree DWI in Minnesota is generally charged when there are no aggravating circumstances, but it still carries penalties such as fines, probation, and license suspension. Driving after revocation and operating a vehicle without insurance can add further consequences, including additional fines and extended license revocation.
Authorities continue to emphasize the dangers of impaired driving, which remains a leading cause of crashes and fatalities in Minnesota. Drivers are encouraged to use safe alternatives such as designated drivers or ride services.
More information on DWI laws and penalties can be found at the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
