NARRATIVE: A tragic collision unfolded on Saturday, March 30, 2024, around 11:52 PM CT, as a Chevrolet Suburban collided head-on with an eastbound Amtrak train near the intersection of 67th Street NW and 110th Ave NW, approximately 5 miles west of Tioga. The Suburban was stationary on the railroad tracks, facing west, when the oncoming train struck it. The impact caused the Suburban to overturn, coming to rest on the north side of the tracks. The driver, identified as a 26-year-old male from Tioga, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The authorities have withheld the driver’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
