POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – James Richard Shaugabay, a 33-year-old man from Thief River Falls, has pleaded not guilty to charges of third-degree felony sale of a controlled substance.

Shaugabay waived his omnibus hearing on Thursday, August 29, and entered the plea.

The charges stem from an incident in May when Shaugabay allegedly sold approximately six grams of methamphetamine, including the packaging weight, to an informant in East Grand Forks for $250.

If convicted, Shaugabay faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, though Minnesota sentencing guidelines suggest a sentence between 21 and 57 months.

His next court appearance is scheduled for October 10 at 9 a.m.
