POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Thief River Falls man has pleaded guilty to selling a significant amount of methamphetamine in neighboring East Grand Forks. James Richard Shaugabay, 33, entered his plea on Friday, October 11.

According to court records, Shaugabay sold approximately six grams of the controlled substance, including its packaging, to an individual cooperating with law enforcement on May 28. This felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, although Minnesota sentencing guidelines recommend between 21 and 57 months.

The plea change was made after a plea agreement was reached between Shaugabay’s defense team and the state prosecutor. However, details of this agreement have not yet been filed with the court.

Shaugabay is scheduled to be sentenced on November 21 at 9:00 a.m.
