Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) – Thief River Falls Man Faces Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges

Daniel Louis Keena, 33, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, is facing charges of criminal sexual conduct in the fifth degree. The incident occurred between March 1, 2026, and March 31, 2026, within Pennington County.

The complaint, filed in the State of Minnesota District Court, County of Pennington, 9th Judicial District, alleges that Keena engaged in nonconsensual sexual contact with a 16-year-old victim. The offense is classified as a gross misdemeanor, with a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.
Statement of Probable Cause

On April 16, 2026, the victim reported that Keena inappropriately touched her. An officer spoke with the victim, who indicated that Keena had touched her left breast while they were watching videos in her room. The victim stated that she told Keena to stop, and he did, but he continued to lie next to her, making her uncomfortable.

Keena was later interviewed by an investigator, during which he admitted to touching the victim’s breast but claimed he did not remember the incident clearly. He attributed his actions to alcohol consumption.

Investigation and Witness Accounts

The investigation included statements from an anonymous witness and the victim’s evaluation at the Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota. The victim reiterated the incident, stating that Keena had reached under her shirt and squeezed her left breast. She also mentioned that Keena’s girlfriend was present but asleep on the floor at the time.

Keena’s girlfriend, when interviewed, indicated that she was dozing off and on and could not see if anything happened. She also reported that Keena told her not to talk about the incident.

Legal Proceedings

The case is currently under prosecution, with Keena facing the charges outlined in the complaint. The legal process will determine the outcome and any potential sentencing.
