On August 31 at 2:32 p.m., a traffic stop at the intersection of Pennington Avenue and 150th Street led to multiple charges for Jason Ray Scott, 48, of Thief River Falls. Scott is facing charges of tax evasion, driving after his license was canceled for public safety reasons, and not having proof of insurance.

Police found that the vehicle’s registration was outdated and did not match the car’s make and model. The registration was listed under Scott’s uncle, whose status was canceled. Scott admitted to using his uncle’s license plates after his own was seized by Red Lake County due to a previous DUI arrest.

Scott also told police he had just bought a 12-pack of beer and was en route to a residence near St. Hilaire. He was arrested and charged accordingly.
