CAVALIER COUNTY, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — Matthew Alyn McCarty, a 34-year-old man from Hillsboro, Kansas, is being held on a $50,000 bond for his alleged involvement in online sexual contact with minors over a period of several years. According to an affidavit filed in the case, McCarty used various methods to persuade and coerce young girls into engaging in explicit conversations and sending him nude photos.
The allegations against McCarty include Class A felony use of a minor in a sexual performance by persuasion, inducement, coercion or enticement, as well as Class C felony luring minors by computer and Class A misdemeanor indecent exposure by electronic means. It is alleged that he sent explicit images to the girls, engaged in sexual conversations with two of them, asked for nude photos in return, and blackmailed one girl who refused to continue doing so.
One of the victims reportedly first received an explicit image from McCarty when she was just 10 years old. The affidavit states that McCarty traveled to the area during harvest season, which is how he became aware of the girls. He allegedly used a burner phone for his illicit activities and destroyed it in 2018.
McCarty has admitted to trying to initiate inappropriate chats with girls, sending and receiving pornographic images for his sexual pleasure. He was booked at the Pembina County Correctional Center on October 10th and remains there after his initial appearance on Thursday morning, October 24th. His preliminary hearing and/or arraignment is scheduled for November 21st.
