ROSEAU COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Roseau man has admitted his guilt to charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor. Danny Lee Hamilton, aged 61, faces up to 25 years behind bars for the heinous crime committed against a 15-year-old girl. In addition to this charge, Hamilton is also facing two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and an additional count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The proposed plea agreement suggests that in exchange for his guilty plea, the remaining charges will be dismissed. The terms of the agreement further recommend that any prison time imposed by the court should be deferred during a three-year period of supervised probation.
As part of this agreement, Hamilton would also have to serve six months at Roseau County Jail, which can be served over weekends or on weekdays with work release privileges granted under his own expense. Other conditions include no contact whatsoever with the alleged victim and completion of a post-plea psychosexual examination followed by adherence to any recommendations provided.
Hamilton’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 3 at 10 am, where the court will determine the exact penalties he must face for his actions. This case highlights the severity with which courts treat such offenses and underscores the importance of protecting minors from sexual predators in our society.
