Roseau Man Faces 4 Charges in Apartment Assault
Roseau (trfnews.i234.me) — Felix Rafael Colon Baez faces four charges following an alleged apartment assault in Roseau.
Prosecutors filed two felony first-degree burglary counts against Baez.
He also faces felony threats of violence and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charges.
The alleged incident happened early August 15, 2026, at Roselawn Apartments.
Police Respond to Apartment Disturbance
Law enforcement was called to the apartment complex around 1:31 a.m.
Authorities arrived and found Jose Torres Negron on top of Baez.
The two men appeared to be wrestling, according to the criminal complaint.
A witness, Christopher Roca, told authorities that Baez had allegedly started the confrontation.
The complaint alleges Baez kicked Torres Negron near the head after Baez was handcuffed.
Resident Says Baez Forced His Way Inside
Torres Negron told investigators he had been inside his bedroom before hearing yelling outside.
He then heard pounding and more yelling in the hallway.
Torres Negron said he opened his apartment door to see what was happening.
He alleged Baez then pushed his way into the apartment without permission.
Torres Negron said Baez began hitting him in the face and body.
Authorities reported scratches on his back and redness near his eyes.
Torres Negron said he grabbed Baez to stop the alleged attack.
He and Roca told investigators they did not know Baez before the incident.
Threats Alleged During Confrontation
Torres Negron also reported several threats during the confrontation.
He alleged Baez threatened to get a knife and kill him.
He also reported another threat involving Baez’s brother if police were called.
Baez later spoke with investigators after receiving a Miranda warning.
Baez said he had consumed alcohol before the incident.
He denied fighting inside the apartment, according to the complaint.
Baez also claimed the men inside the apartment were his friends.
At the jail, Baez allegedly made another statement involving shooting officers if he had a gun.
Two First-Degree Burglary Counts Filed
One burglary count alleges Baez entered an occupied dwelling without consent.
The second alleges he entered without consent and assaulted another person inside.
Minnesota Statute 609.582 covers first-degree burglary.
Each burglary count carries up to 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
The occupied-dwelling count also carries a six-month mandatory minimum after conviction.
The threats charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.713.
That felony carries up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The assault count carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The case is filed under court number 68-CR-26-484.

The complaint contains allegations and does not establish Baez’s guilt.
Baez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
