Bemidji Man Faces 3 Felonies in Privacy Case

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Adam Joseph Skoog faces three felony privacy charges in Beltrami County District Court.

A criminal complaint accuses Skoog of recording minors in places where they expected privacy.

Prosecutors charged Skoog under Minnesota’s interference with privacy law.

The complaint lists three felony counts under Minnesota Statute 609.746, subdivision 1(h).

Each count carries a maximum four-year prison sentence and a $5,000 fine.

The charged conduct allegedly occurred between January 1 and August 1, 2024.

Investigation Started in 2025

The complaint says the investigation began on September 25, 2025.

Authorities received information about Skoog photographing juvenile girls during a middle school volleyball tournament.

Investigators later obtained court-approved warrants to search Skoog’s Bemidji residence and electronic devices.

Authorities seized a cellphone, computer equipment, server equipment, and several hard drives.

The devices were sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for forensic examination.

According to the complaint, investigators found numerous images and videos involving minors in private settings.

The material allegedly included recordings made in bedrooms and bathrooms.

Investigators also reported finding computer folders organized by names or initials connected to minors.

Court documents identify the minors only by initials. TRF News is withholding identifying information about the children.

Prosecutors allege Skoog knew minors were present when the recordings were made.

The complaint also alleges the conduct involved sexual intent.

That allegation is an element of the felony provision cited by prosecutors.

The charging document lists three felony counts based on the alleged conduct.

Under Minnesota Statute 609.746, the cited offense can carry significant prison time.

The statute allows up to four years in prison, a $5,000 fine, or both.

The case is filed as State of Minnesota v. Adam Joseph Skoog.
