Roseau Man Charged Over Alleged Bad Check
Roseau (trfnews.i234.me) — A Badger man faces a gross misdemeanor charge involving an allegedly dishonored check in Roseau.
Jacob Jon Jenson, 31, is charged with issuing a dishonored check.
The case was filed in Roseau County District Court.
The alleged offense happened on January 23, 2026, according to the criminal complaint.
Check Written to Roseau Business
Prosecutors say Jenson issued a check to Roseau Ace Hardware.
The complaint says the check was drawn on an account at Border Bank.
Authorities allege the account did not have enough money to cover the check.
The check was later returned for insufficient funds, according to court records.
The complaint lists slightly different check amounts in separate sections.
One section lists the check at $410.43.
Another section lists the amount at $410.33.
The complaint states the total amount due was $440.33 after a service charge.
Payment Allegedly Not Made
Authorities say a demand for payment was later made to Jenson.
The complaint alleges Jenson did not pay within five business days.
Prosecutors then filed a charge under Minnesota’s dishonored check law.
The charge is a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 609.535.
A conviction could carry up to 364 days in jail.
The maximum fine listed in the complaint is $3,000.
