A tragic two-vehicle collision occurred on Thursday, March 27, 2025, on Minnesota Highway 23 near 101st Street in Beaver Creek Township, Rock County. The incident resulted in one fatality and one non-life-threatening injury.

Details of the Incident

At approximately 10:44 p.m., a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by 47-year-old Grant Ira Crawford of Jasper, was traveling northbound on Highway 23. Simultaneously, a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, operated by 21-year-old Jayson Lynn Delf of Hardwick, was also heading northbound. The vehicles collided near 101st Street.

Circumstances and Immediate Response

Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 23 when they collided near 101st Street. The crash occurred at approximately 10:44 p.m. Emergency responders, including the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Luverne Emergency Medical Services, Beaver Creek Fire Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Avera Flight, were dispatched to the scene.

Investigation and Findings

The Minnesota State Patrol’s preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Delf was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, while Crawford was. Road conditions were reported as dry.
