On January 2, 2026, a driver reported a car stuck on a county road.

A deputy helped free the car, and the driver left safely.

On January 3, 2026, a resident reported online harassment.

A deputy documented the report and shared safety advice.

On January 4, 2026, deputies found an occupied vehicle stuck at Sportsman’s Park in Red Lake Falls.

The person got a ride home and planned a tow.

Scam and Theft Investigations

Also on January 4, 2026, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a scam loss.

The report said the loss was a large amount of money.

That case remains under investigation.

On January 5, 2026, another Red Lake Falls resident reported theft from a parked vehicle.

The vehicle was parked along Main Avenue.

That case also remains under investigation.

Parking Enforcement

On January 6, 2026, law enforcement towed a vehicle from Chicago Avenue in Red Lake Falls.

Officials said it blocked snow removal.

Early on January 7, 2026, two vehicles were cited on Main Avenue.

The citations were for the city winter parking rule.

Felony Worthless Checks Case

On January 6, 2026, a criminal complaint charged Damon Roy Anderson, 50, of Minneapolis.

The charge alleges felony issuance of worthless checks in Red Lake County.

Officials said the checks were written in September and October 2025.

They said the total was more than $500.

Officials also said Anderson was arrested in November 2025 in Norman County.

He has been held in the jail in Crookston since that arrest.

He is expected to make his first court appearance in Red Lake Falls later this month.

Fatal Crash North of Plummer

On January 7, 2026, dispatch received several reports of a serious crash on Highway 59.

The crash was north of Plummer.

First responders from several agencies went to the scene.

Two vehicles collided, and one adult male died at the scene.

The other driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The victim was taken to the University of North Dakota for an autopsy.

The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the crash investigation.

DWI Arrest After Ditch Call

On January 8, 2026, deputies got a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 92.

The location was east of Brooks.

Deputies identified the driver as Joshua Steven Anderson, 39, of St. Hilaire.

Officials said signs pointed to alcohol impairment.

They also reported a loaded handgun on the driver’s side floor.

Anderson was arrested and booked into the Crookston jail.

He was booked for gross misdemeanor DWI and unlawful transport of a firearm.

Officials said the vehicle was not damaged, but it was towed.

He is expected to be released on January 9, 2026.

He is expected to receive a court summons later.
