Red Lake County (trfnews.i234.me) — Red Lake County law officers handled a wide range of calls from April 3 through April 10. The incidents included an arrest, scam reports, traffic stops, weather-related crashes, and an ongoing release violation probe.

Authorities said one case began on April 3. A Red Lake County deputy helped a Marshall County deputy investigate claims that a current Red Lake County defendant broke court-ordered release conditions. That case remains under investigation.

Snow, Traffic, and Highway Help

On April 4, the Minnesota State Patrol asked for help on Highway 32 north of Red Lake Falls. A deputy helped pull a semi and trailer from deep snow. The deputy then escorted the truck to the Paradise Falls Motel in Red Lake Falls. The driver waited there for road conditions to improve.

On April 8, law officers helped with two vehicles in the ditch. One was south of Plummer on Highway 59. The other was north of Oklee on County Road 5. Officials said slushy and slippery roads caused both incidents. No one was hurt. Both vehicles were towed back onto the road.

Investigations Continue

On April 6, the sheriff’s office received a report of possible financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult. That case is still under investigation.

On April 9, the sheriff’s office also received a report of a scam victim. That case remains open as well.

Traffic Stops and Arrest

On April 7, Earl Pederson, 59, of Bejou, was cited for speeding on Highway 92 east of Highway 32.

Later that evening, deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 92 south of Oklee. The stop was for registration and equipment issues. The driver was identified as April Marie Kimbro, 28, of Trail.

Authorities said Kimbro’s driver’s license was revoked. She was arrested on that misdemeanor offense. Deputies said she refused to leave the vehicle. She was then removed and placed in a squad car. She was taken to jail in Crookston.

Kimbro was booked for driving after revocation, no proof of current insurance, and obstructing. A passenger with a valid license later removed the vehicle from the roadway. Kimbro was released on April 9. She is expected to receive a court summons in Red Lake Falls. Court information is typically available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

On April 8, a juvenile from Red Lake Falls was also cited for speeding near McLean Avenue on County Road 1.

On April 10, Joseph Nelson Hervais, 40, of Appling, Georgia, was cited for speeding on Highway 92 west of Oklee.

Other Calls in Red Lake Falls

Also on April 7, a Red Lake Falls resident reported juveniles were harassing their child. A deputy spoke with those involved. The matter was mediated.

On April 9, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Red Lake Falls. The people involved were counseled and separated. Officials said no crime was committed.
