Red Lake County (trfnews.i234.me) — Authorities handled several calls across Red Lake County during the first week of May.
The calls included traffic citations, a farm equipment scam, an ammonia leak, and a rooftop rescue.
Traffic Citations Reported
On May 1, Rielle Michelle Goebel, 26, of Mapleton, Minnesota, was cited for speeding.
The stop happened on Highway 32, south of Red Lake Falls.
On May 5, Samantha Elizabeth Chaput, 36, of Red Lake Falls, was cited in Red Lake Falls.
She was cited for misdemeanor driving after revocation on Main Avenue.
Ammonia Leak Found Near Garnes Township Home
On May 1, a Garnes Township resident reported a strong ammonia smell near their home.
A deputy found an anhydrous tank leaking in a nearby field.
The Plummer Fire Department and Oklee Ambulance responded to the scene.
Firefighters watched the area while the tank vented.
The problem was resolved, and no injuries were reported.
Roofing Accident In Terrebonne Township
On May 2, emergency crews responded to a Terrebonne Township home.
A man had accidentally nailed his finger to a roof while shingling.
Rescue crews worked for about 30 minutes to free him.
He was taken by ambulance to Riverview Health in Crookston.
Officials said he is expected to fully recover.
Business Scam Reported
On May 4, a Red Lake County business owner reported an online scam.
Someone used a fake website with the business name to advertise farm equipment.
The case was referred to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center.
The fake website’s host was also notified.
The owner of Vatthauer Farm Supply said the business has no website.
The owner said sales are only done in person or by phone.
Missing Person Found Safe
Also on May 4, deputies received a report about a missing person.
The person had been reported missing from Bismarck, North Dakota.
Authorities said the person may have been in Red Lake Falls.
Red Lake County worked with the Bismarck Police Department.
The next day, Bismarck police said the person was found safe.
Juvenile Calls And Disturbance
On May 6, law enforcement responded to Plummer School.
A juvenile had left the school without permission.
The juvenile was found during a mental health crisis.
They were taken to Sanford Health in Thief River Falls for care.
Later that evening, a Garnes Township resident reported a black car and gunshots.
A deputy stopped the vehicle north of County Road 1.
Two juvenile males admitted they had shot at birds nearby.
Officials said both juveniles had consumed alcohol.
More alcohol was found and destroyed.
The case will be reviewed for possible minor consumption charges.
On May 7, officers responded to an Equality Township disturbance.
Two people were arguing over child custody.
The dispute was mediated at the scene.
