On September 24, 2026, the ND State Patrol assisted the Morton County Sheriff’s Office and federal and local law enforcement with a pursuit that entered North Dakota from South Dakota on ND Highway 1806. The pursuit continued north toward Mandan, where spike strips were successfully deployed. As the vehicle continued toward the city, a Mandan Police Department officer assisted in slowing the pursuit, and a trooper performed a (pursuit intervention technique) PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop before it entered Mandan. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. The Morton County Sheriff’s Office is handling charges related to the pursuit in North Dakota. This incident highlights the coordination between multiple agencies working together to safely bring a dangerous pursuit to an end.
