What the complaint says

According to the complaint, the owner of the firearm, Thomas Seliski, told investigators he saw Kachurowsky pick up a handgun, place it in a bag, and walk away. Seliski said Kachurowsky did not speak with him before leaving the table area.

The complaint says the firearm was a Taurus Judge revolver. Investigators said the gun was later found in a black bag on Kachurowsky’s walker. Court records say Seliski chased Kachurowsky, confronted him, and recovered the gun.

Kachurowsky denied stealing the firearm, according to the complaint. He said he was trying to find a cashier so he could buy it. He also claimed he was assaulted during the confrontation.

Video and witness statements

The complaint says video from the school gym was reviewed by investigators. Authorities allege the video shows Kachurowsky placing the gun in his bag and moving across the gym. The complaint also says a witness saw the same thing and alerted Seliski.

Elizabeth Harburn, identified in the complaint as a friend of Kachurowsky, was present during the incident. No criminal charge against her is listed in the filing.

Medical check and court record

After the arrest, Kachurowsky complained about an injury near his eye, according to the complaint. He was taken to Sanford ER in Thief River Falls for evaluation. The complaint says a CT scan and X-ray were negative.

The complaint also says Seliski, a federally licensed firearms dealer, told investigators there was no lawful reason for Kachurowsky to possess the gun during the event. The case was filed under Minnesota’s theft law. You can read that law here. Minnesota court records are available here.

Kachurowsky is charged, not convicted. The allegations remain unproven unless proven in court.
