NDSU Soccer Comeback Falls Short vs. Weber State

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State soccer fell to Weber State 4-2 Thursday evening in non-conference action at Dacotah Field.

The Bison gave up two goals in the first half, but answered back with two kick goals in the second half to tie the game. However, the Wildcats would respond with a pair of late goals to take the win.

Payton Mulberry made a couple early saves for the Bison, but Sayler Schlosser would score two goals in less than six minutes, scoring in the 23rd minute and then again in the 29th minute to give Weber State the lead.

Devon Kavanagh would cut the deficit in half on a corner kick in the 68th minute, as her in-swinging kick was deflected in by a Wildcat defender. 44 seconds later, Kavanagh would score on a strike from distance, as she finished into the top right corner from about 30 yards out to tie the game at 2-2.

The game would remain tied for 11 minutes until Wildcat Amanda Caswell scored on a rebound to put Weber State back in front. She would then add a second goal in the 85th minute to seal the victory for Weber State.

Mulberry finished with eight saves in the loss. Gabrielle Garrett picked up an assist on the second Bison goal, her second of the season.

The Bison will return to action on Sunday, as NDSU travels to St. Paul, Minnesota to take on the Gophers of the University of Minnesota. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
