Multiple Offenders in Thief River Falls Facing Charges Ranging from Substance Abuse to Assault 10-21-2024

Pennington County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – The Thief River Falls Police Department recently handled multiple cases involving charges of impaired driving, theft, and other offenses.

  • Latasha Jane Makarrall, 25, Laporte: Fourth-degree driving while impaired (under the influence of a controlled substance). Received 30 days in jail, stayed for one year, and supervised probation for one year. Also charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance (over 0.25 grams) with a statutory stay of adjudication and five years of supervised probation. Gross misdemeanor possession charge dismissed. She must complete treatment and avoid firearms or explosives.
  • Jane Marie Drury, 68, Thief River Falls: Aided and abetted a gross misdemeanor theft, fined $210, with 91 days in jail stayed for two years. Additionally charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, with supervised probation for four years and restitution of $268.46. The theft charge was dismissed.
  • Cody Mitchell Meekma, 36, Thief River Falls: Charged with fourth-degree assault of a peace officer. Fined $460 and sentenced to 364 days in jail, stayed for two years, with probation. Related charges of domestic assault by strangulation and other misdemeanors were dismissed.

  • Erik William Engelstad, 35, Thief River Falls: Fined $185 for unlawful littering.
