Moorhead Man Charged After Alleged 911 Interference
Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — Preston Hamadu Johnson faces a gross misdemeanor charge following an incident at a Moorhead bar.
Prosecutors accuse Johnson of interfering with a woman’s attempt to call 911.
The incident happened around 2:26 a.m. on September 6, 2026.
The case is filed as 14-CR-26-3239 in Clay County District Court.
911 Call Ends Suddenly
According to the complaint, law enforcement responded to a bar in Moorhead.
A woman had called dispatch and reported being with the father of her child.
She said she had obtained a restraining order against Preston Hamadu Johnson.
However, the complaint states that the order had not yet been served.
During the emergency call, dispatch allegedly heard the woman telling Johnson to stop following her.
She was also heard telling him not to touch her belongings.
The telephone call then disconnected.
Dispatch was unable to reach the woman again, according to the complaint.
Phone Allegedly Broken
Officers arrived and found Johnson and the woman together.
The complaint says the two appeared to be arguing.
Johnson allegedly provided a false name and birth date before authorities identified him.
The woman told investigators that Johnson approached her at the bar.
She said she told him to leave her alone.
She also alleged Johnson prevented her from getting into her vehicle.
The woman then attempted to call 911.
Prosecutors allege Johnson grabbed her phone and threw it onto the ground.
The impact allegedly broke the phone and interrupted the emergency call.
A witness also reported seeing Johnson break the phone, according to the complaint.
Gross Misdemeanor Charge Filed
Johnson is charged with interfering with an emergency telephone call.
The charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.78.
The complaint lists a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
It also lists a possible fine of up to $3,000.
