Minnesota Legislature Passes Bill Regulating Ticket Sales

ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Prompted by ticketing issues during Taylor Swift’s 2022 “Eras” tour, the Minnesota Legislature has approved a bill regulating ticket sales. The bill, championed by Mendota Heights Democrat Matt Klein, mandates that ticket sellers disclose total costs upfront, including fees, throughout the purchase process. Additionally, resellers in online marketplaces are restricted from selling more than one copy of a ticket and are prohibited from selling tickets before they are officially available.

The legislation aims to address various issues, including ensuring transparency in pricing, preventing ticket scalping, and reducing the impact of bots in ticket purchasing. With the bill passing in the Minnesota Senate with a vote of 35 to 29, it now awaits Governor Tim Walz’s signature to become law. Supporters of the bill believe it will protect Minnesota consumers and create a fairer ticketing system for everyone involved.
