Newfolden, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A tragic accident occurred on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Newfolden Township, Marshall County, resulting in the death of a 79-year-old woman. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Corienne Marie Jacobson of Karlstad was driving a 2021 Ford Escape southbound on Highway 59 when her vehicle collided head-on with a northbound 2014 Western Star semi-truck near the intersection with 340th Street Northwest.
The crash was reported at approximately 12:48 p.m. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not involved. The semi-truck driver, 64-year-old Robert Allan Benson of Mahnomen, was not injured.
The collision caused the semi-truck’s trailer, which was carrying scrap metal, to overturn and spill its load. Emergency responders from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Tri-County EMS, and the Newfolden Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
