Mahnomen Stop Leads To Drug Charges For Man

Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Mahnomen County court complaint says Thomas Allen King Jr. faces multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 59.

The case was filed in the Minnesota District Court, 9th Judicial District. The court file number is 44-CR-22-721.

King is charged with fifth-degree drug possession involving heroin. He is also charged with fifth-degree drug possession involving methamphetamine.

The complaint also lists possession or sale of a small amount of marijuana with no payment. It also lists possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes and needles.

Traffic Stop North Of Mahnomen

According to the complaint, the stop happened on May 17, 2021. A white Pontiac Grand Am had left Dollar General in Mahnomen.

The vehicle was later stopped north of the city on U.S. Highway 59. Authorities said Thomas Allen King Sr. was in the back seat. The complaint says he had outstanding warrants.

Authorities also said Thomas Allen King Jr. had a probable cause pickup related to a domestic assault matter.

During the stop, the complaint says King Jr. tried to place his wallet in a rear seat pocket. He was then asked to step out of the vehicle.

Complaint Lists Heroin, Meth, And Needles

Authorities said a search of King Jr. found a white, round pill. The complaint says King Jr. identified the pill as “welling.”

The complaint also says a folded colored paper bindle was found. King Jr. allegedly said it contained heroin.

That bindle was later field tested positive for heroin, according to the complaint. It weighed about 0.4 grams with packaging on an uncertified scale.

Authorities also searched the vehicle. The complaint says a bindle was found in the back pocket of the passenger seat.

That item was later field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine. It weighed about 1.0 gram with packaging on an uncertified scale.

A separate bindle wrapped in an American flag pattern contained marijuana, according to the complaint.

Other People Named In Complaint

The complaint identifies Cheyenne Carol Fasthorse as the driver. It identifies Terrance Duane Burnette Jr. as the front passenger.

Authorities also found a locked case on the front passenger floor. The complaint says it had the initials “TB” on it.

The complaint says the case contained drug paraphernalia and another bindle. Burnette allegedly said the bindle contained heroin.

The complaint also says two hypodermic needles were found in the glove box. Two more needles were found under the passenger-side back seat.
