Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Mahnomen man is facing a felony charge after court documents allege private sexual images were shared online without consent.
Philip Daniel Kier, 24, of Mahnomen, has been charged in Mahnomen County District Court. The case was filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District under court file number 44-CR-26-262.
Kier is charged with nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images. The charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 617.261.
The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of up to three years in prison. It also carries a possible $5,000 fine, or both, according to the complaint.
Complaint Details
The alleged offense happened on or about April 9, 2026, in Mahnomen County. Prosecutors allege Kier intentionally shared an image of another person.
The complaint says the person was identifiable in the image. It also alleges the image showed exposed intimate parts or sexual content.
Investigators were first contacted after a victim reported possible images posted online without consent. The victim told authorities she had a past relationship with Kier.
The victim said the two had recently ended their relationship. Afterward, she began receiving random phone messages and Snapchat adds.
Some of the messages were sexual in nature, according to the complaint. The victim said she later learned private images had appeared on a forum.
Alleged Online Posts
The victim told investigators she had only sent those images to Kier during their relationship. She later provided screenshots to authorities.
According to the complaint, the victim said Kier posted the images on April 9 and April 10, 2026. She said the posts stopped after another person intervened.
The complaint also states Kier allegedly told the victim he made the posts to get her attention.
One screenshot cited in the complaint included messages attributed to Kier. In those messages, he apologized and said he had deleted the post.
Authorities also reviewed a screenshot of what was allegedly posted online. The complaint says it showed the victim’s face with a private image.
The case remains active in Mahnomen County District Court. Court records may be searched through Minnesota Court Records Online.
A criminal complaint is an allegation. Kier is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
