Kelly Gutterud, 62

Bull Shoals, AR – Kelly Charles Gutterud passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas.
Kelly was born October 13, 1961, in Thief River Falls, to Amy (Schmitke) and Elmer Gutterud. He attended Washington Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, and Lincoln High School where he graduated with honors in the spring of 1980. Kelly spent his early years hunting and fishing with his brother, Wane, and their father, Elmer. Kelly’s other passions included hockey and baseball. He and his brother Wane played baseball every summer throughout his childhood.
Kelly started his career at Forsberg’s in Thief River Falls. Then in his early twenties, he moved to Dallas, Texas to join Wane at Chilton Corporation. Kelly worked in the Information Technology area at Chilton/ TRW/Experian for twenty-five years until he retired at 50 years old.
In Kelly’s twenties, he continued playing adult men’s league baseball and softball, with Wane, in Dallas. In addition, Kelly enjoyed going to the Dallas Stars Hockey games. Throughout the years, Kelly
continued growing his passion for fishing. In fact, he bought a house and a boat, in Arkansas, where he was able to fish every day in the Bull Shoals Lake reservoir.
During the past twenty years, Kelly has resided in Bull Shoals, Arkansas. He prided himself on keeping a nice lawn and clean house. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams when he wasn’t busy fishing.
Kelly is survived by his sister, Terry (Paul) Spear; niece, Megan (Brandon) Fritsch, and their children, Bradyn, Micah and Emma; and his brother, Wane (Paula) Gutterud and nephew Alexander.
Kelly was preceded in death by his mother, Amy (1984); his father, Elmer (1986); grandparents, uncles
and aunts, and a few cousins over the years.
Kelly’s Memorial will be held at the Silver Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Thief River Falls, on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2 p.m., where Kelly’s ashes will also be buried.
